--For our first
full day in Kefalonia, Nikki and I ventured down to the beach. It was a bit of
a walk, but we eventually made it to the Makris Gialos beach. It was a
beautiful and unpopular beach, especially since Nikki and I seem to be the only
tourists on the island and since it
is still April (aka not tourist season). We were the only two people on the
entire beach for a while –minus the man in a spedo who was walking later in the
afternoon. It was extremely nice, and I was quite content with our picnic
lunch, my sketchbook, some paint, and some music.

After the beach, we shopped around in the main square of town again and visited our friend, Spyros. We bought a few items from him, got chatted up, learned where to buy cheaper aloe vera, found which hotel sells stamps, and learned a little history of the evil eye, worry beads, and the Phaistos disk. We made some dinner, and had another nice movie night in.
